Who we are

We’re a statutory public corporation accountable to Parliament through the Secretary of State for the Department for Work and Pensions.

Our history

We were set up under the Pensions Act 2004. We’re run by the Board of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).

What we do

We pay compensation to trustees or scheme managers of eligible occupational pension schemes where the employer has become insolvent and scheme assets have been reduced due to an offence involving dishonesty.

We consider the evidence supplied and determine whether such a loss has occurred.
